Question:
In dating, what are some differences between American women vs. those from other English-speaking countries?

While I appreciate the "I have heard that..." answers, I will attach more crdibility to those who have actually dated women from the U.S. AND other English-speaking countries, thereby speaking from experience vs. heresay or conjecture.

The country of comparison may not have to have English as their national language. But if the majority of the people speak English or are bilingual in English as a practical matter, those countries would count too in this comparison.

I am an American woman, and although I haven't dated any women from other countries (mainly, because I date men), I can tell you how I feel I rate against my experiences with people from other countries.

I think that American women have been raised to be incredibly opinionated (at least I have). We expect nothing less than absolute equality from a mate. The women's rights movement that was started by our mothers has been passed down to us and we expect certain things. We've been taught that nothing is out of our grasp. Dating wise, I think that American women are incredibly picky. I think that our parents have told us not to settle, and we have the notion of "soul mates" in our heads and that is what we are looking for. A friend of mine from Saudi Arabia had an arranged marriage, so she didn't get to be as picky. She also is expected to stick it out and make the marriage work, rather than American women who often look for greener grass after the first big fight. My friend is also not considered an equal in her husband's eyes, which is something that wouldn't fly with me. I see this happening not only with friends from the middle east, but friends from central america, europe, and asia. It's just seems to be a different mentality in general...

I'm sure you realize that you won't get an answer that will satisfy you here. You can't lump people by nation. Who I am, what my values are and how I might react to you may been just the same or completely different from my co-worker the next desk over, even though we reside in the same nation..

Oh, and I'm American, but I don't eat McDonalds or Burger King, the majority of my friends don't either, male or female.

considering i am english, i shall tell you

first of all, depends on the age. women in england take care of themselves a lot less than american people, in my opinion anyway. in america a guy youve never met before can ask for your number or on a date. he'll take you out for a proper night and make sure you have fun. in england its a lot more get to know the guy first, but this differs from women. some are more cautious, and some have sex straight away. these people are called slags ;)

no but seriously, english women are very unreliable

I am English, but I travel to the US a great deal.

Compared to other English speakers, I find that American women,

Are more polite.

Take more care in their appearance.

Have a better command of the English language

Drink less alcohol when on dates

Better in bed.

In England, we rarely use the term 'Dating'.

And over here it seems more common for people to rush into relationships, hence the extremely high teen pregnancy rate.

haha.
