Guys and girls who know about hand gestures between man and woman, what could this mean?

What is the difference in hand gestures when a man hugs a woman with his hand laying flat on her shoulder, versus the other kind where his hand is on her but he has curled or bent fingers over her shoulder? flat hand over shoulder versus curled in fingers over shoulder?

Interesting question. I have had the same hugs. I saw no difference in meanings, just a friendly hug. Everyone has their own way of doing it. The length of the hug, a close body contact squeeze, a slight rocking motion, and even a slight back stroke means a closer feeling. A simple hug like one you explained may be nothing more than just a nice "hello" hug. Maybe the person giving it gets more out of it with a slight curled grip upon the shoulders. It could mean different things to different people. I think the length of the hug and how tight you get it is more special between friends. It is like a bond between you. I see so many fake hugs with backs arched, heads turned and a quick retreat. It is what you make of it. If it means more from the other person, you will pick that up quickly. We all should share more hugs with family and friends. It makes your day go so much better! ....... Note for fun: A HUG: Something that is a bit to large to hold in your hand, yet not too big and heavy to support in feeble arms. It is warm to the touch and so cool the longer you can keep it. It costs nothing yet is highly valued. Virtually everyone wants one, yet when given away freely, it always seems to come back to you. Pretty cool, huh? I need one too! :D...>(8>)=

The shoulder is mostly neutral territory in itself. Flat might be a realized relationship, whereas curled might be somewhat retracting.

i wouldnt read tooo much into this , but in some cases open hands mean open to feelings and emotions close and hands he's not feelin it

could be something open feelings, or not.... maybe he just have sweaty hands and doesn't want to put his sweat on you.... or maybe different people do different things... maybe ssubconscious.. but don't worry, normally its just nothing important
