Can being funny make you unattractive?

Hi. I was talking to this girl today and she said whatever I say is funny but that's what annoys me, no one really takes me seriously. Is this a bad thing?

I have a really great guy friend that has this same issue. I have finally convinced him (and it has worked for him) to be himself at all times, but if there is a woman he is interested in, i have told him to have serious moments when around her. Like make sure she notices you noticing her. You are right, funny all the time leads to the "friend zone" and they won't take you seriously as a boyfriend.

Being the class clown, how can anyone take you seriously. It does not make you unattractive because there are women who love a good laugh and will find that very attractive. You just have to be passionate about something and not joke about it and they will take you serious on some subject matters. Don't make fun of everything but only some things.

I don't think there is anything sexier than a guy who is intelligent and funny. Eddie Izzard may be (usually) overweight and likes to dress how he pleases and wear make up and stuff but he is really sexy in my opinion. However people like the old fashioned comedians who just tell stories or poke fun at other people are not sexy they just come over as being insecure and stupid.



If you have a talent to be funny go and explore it, but if you are using jokes to try to stop people getting close to the real you then it's time to stop. But only you know the answer to this - Eddie Izzard or Bob Monkhouse - which are you?

Well I think it is good to a certain extent. People dont like others that have no sense of humor. Then they seem dull and maybe even a little mean! So its good that you do have a sense of humour! Although if you take your "jokes" too seriously and try to be TOO funny then people will simply think you are one big joke and will not take you seriously. Not at all! It can actually work in the opposite way! Girls find a guy who can make her laugh HOT. Maybe she likes you? It's sounds like it isn't that she doesn't take you seriously, but that you genuinely crack her up. Or am I wrong? When my friend and I used to go out, we would get chatting to 2 guys, usually one really good looking, the other not so.

At first we would be arguing about who was getting the good looking guy, but by the end of the night, it would be the other guy we would be fighting over, usually because he was funny, and therefore in our eyes, the most attractive and the one we would want to spend time with!!
